Lake Antorno – small but beautiful

Der Antornosee - Lago Antorno

I have already told you about the well-known and beautiful Lake Misurina. Very close to it – only 2 kilometres to the north – in the Bellunese Dolomites lies the somewhat smaller but no less beautiful Lake Antorno.

If you have ever taken the toll road from Misurina up to the Three Peaks, you can certainly remember Lago Antorno, because the road goes right past the small lake. It lies at an altitude of 1,866 m and there is also a beautiful hiking trail that takes you around Lake Antorno.

“Un passo dal cielo” – Lake Antorno as the backdrop for the well-known TV series

Do you know the series “Un passo dal cielo”? Also known as “The Mountain Police – Close to the Sky”? All episodes of the total of six seasons were filmed in South Tyrol and in the Dolomites and Misurina, Auronzo and San Vito di Cadore were also settings for the successful TV series.

Lake Antorno in summer

In summer, Lake Antorno is the ideal starting point for numerous hikes in the Begren. To the Rinbianco Alm, for example, to the Fondo Savio Hut or to the Auronzo Hut at the foot of the Three Peaks, to name but a few. Sport fishing is also possible at Lake Antorno.

Lake Antorno in winter

Lago Antorno is particularly popular in winter as a starting point for tours by snowmobile up to the Three Peaks. This really is a very special experience. And if you would like to get behind the wheel of the snowmobile yourself, you can do so here on a route about 2 km long. But you can enjoy the beautiful winter landscape around Lago Antorno and the snow-covered Three Peaks even better on a snowshoe hike.

When you come to South Tyrol, be sure to visit Lake Antorno. It’s worth it at any time of day or year.

Many greetings
