Monte Arnese at full moon

Das Hornischegg bei Vollmond

Few people have ever seen Monte Arnese like this. Harald set out under a full moon to take this powerful picture.

Right on the Carnic High-Altitude Trail, on the border between Austria and Italy, lies Monte Arnese at 2,550 m above sea level, with a view of the Sesto Dolomites. In former times it was a disputed border mountain. Today, the highest elevation in the Sillian municipal area is a popular destination for hikers from all over the world.

The cross on the summit of Monte Arnesewas made by the Sillian artisan Florian Kofler as a journeyman’s piece. On one side it shows Jesus nailed to the cross and on the other side two hands joined in the greeting of peace.

Best regards,
